Never give a Wedgie! This girl scares me., Thursday, May 20, 2010
Just how do you describe the twisted world of Lenore?
Macabre. Twisted. Grotesque. Perverted. Violent. Tasteless.
The list can go on.
However, I love this book by Roman Dirge. My usual reading includes Peanuts, the Phantom, Kolchak, and a host of sci fi. Every now and then you have to veer off the beaten path, and look into the dark.
That would be either Nemi, or Lenore. Wedgies, is a collection of issues 5-8 that have not been seen on thiese shores. Titan Books, in their re-issue have re-defined many people's taste, usually for the worst. Well, a prime example of the appeal/disgust that this series elicits is "There Was An Old Woman". Clearly, not the poem we all know. "Fugly Duckling" is another twisted tale with an unexpected ending, kick the critter!
One thing is guaranteed about this book is that it will take you to depths you never thought you would explore, and that you just might laugh until you die. At that point, Lenore would be your friend and not try to kill you. Good luck with that.
In the world of twisted fiction, Lenore stands alone. Can't imagine why though?

LOVE the seris. very funny cultrally sublime great for jokes and coversation starters. Not easy to describ to the average country bumpkin or religous nut, rapper or sport type. Definatly not something to talk about around protective parents however I think you can get around it if they like Shawn of the Dead. Only seris of Roman dirge I like but he dose have some amusing moments in his other works.
