Product Description

The second Astro City volume collects the first extended storyline from the award-winning comics series as a young man struggles to earn his place as sidekick to the forbidding hero known as the Confessor, only to learn that his hero holds a dark secret. And while the crimefighting duo become a team, political forces are in motion to restrict the actions of the citys heroes.

An intelligent read but dull comic, Tuesday, August 04, 2009

Of the three volumes released so far, Confessions is probably the best in the Astrocity series. It tells about the coming of age of a young boy with the superhero name Altar-boy, as a sidekick to an ageing superhero the Confessor.
The parallels especially to the famous flying rodent and sparrow sidekick is terribly overwhelming.

While Busiek's writing is intelligent, I can't believe that any kid would want to read this comic and be entertained. This series is really aimed at a more matured and probably adult audience. I can't agree with the majority of the reviewers here who give this a 4 and 5 star. I can give this a 3 star as Astrocity is really a very homogenous series, preserving its consistent style of writing, drawings and ultimately staid approach to story-telling.

Like finding a $20 in an old pair of pants, Saturday, March 21, 2009

Used to collect Astro City when it first came out, so this wasn't a new discovery. It was nice to find this storyline collected in one volume. I enjoyed the Forward which kind of described the whole creation process. The bonus features including original sketch art were also a welcome addition.

Great one, Monday, March 16, 2009

I was not really captured with the first TPB but this one is great. Tells a good story with a sudden twist.
