I picked this up due to all the praise it gets by worth of mouth. Started off feeling pretty generic and slow. But it makes up for it after they introduce the guardians of the globe. From then on i couldn't put it down and wanted to keep reading until it was over. So now I'll add vol 2 to my wish list.

I cannot express to you in words how amazing this series is (especially Volume 1). Lovable characters, amazing writing, and total crap a brick moment. MUST HAVE for any comic book fan, heck it's a MUST HAVE for anyone!

I'm not going to recap the story since a ton of people have already done that. I'm just going to throw my two cents in on the book as a whole.

I love this series. I have the first four ultimate collections, and of all of the pre-orders I'm waiting on I am most excited about vol. 5 of Invincible. I generally hate super hero comics, but this one is just great. The writing is funny, the art is beautiful and the world is interesting. Now, I'm not saying that this is some super deep story here. Don't expect Sandman or Y: The Last Man, but do expect a fun read with characters that you will actually care about. The quality of the book as a whole is outstanding as well.
